Clifford Whitcomb

Professor and Chair
Biography: 

Professor Whitcomb is an experienced educator and systems engineer. He is currently a Professor and Chair of the Systems Engineering department at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. Professor Whitcomb has led the SE department implementation of CDIO and ABET EAC accreditation for both resident and distance learning programs. His previous faculty appointments have been at MIT in Ocean Engineering for the Naval Construction and Engineering program and in the Systems Design and Management program, and at the University of New Orleans in Naval Architecture. He is the author of Effective Interpersonal and Team Communication Skills for Engineers published by Wiley for the IEEE Press in 2013, as well as the author of a related chapter for Teamwork and Project Management in Engineering, Karl Smith, 4th Edition, published by McGraw-Hill in 2013. He is also the Editor-in-Chief for the American Society of Naval Engineers professional society quarterly publication, the Naval Engineers Journal, a position he has held for the past 10 years. He is also a former member of the INCOSE Board of Directors representing Region IV from 2001 – 2003, and the INCOSE Member Board representing Region IV from 2003-2004.
